What started as a way to honor her has grown into a mission to make mental health care a little more accessible for people who need support but simply can\u2019t afford traditional therapy.<\/p><p>Through our scholarship program, A Sister\u2019s Legacy provides low-cost and fully funded therapy to individuals who might otherwise have to choose between getting help and paying their bills. To date, we\u2019ve helped provide nearly 1,000 therapy sessions\u2014and we\u2019re still going.<\/p><p>Today, we\u2019re also creating a model that supports the next generation of social workers. LMSWs are able to provide scholarship therapy while receiving clinical supervision and gaining experience on their path toward independent licensure. Clients get affordable care, new clinicians get support and experience, and hopefully we make mental health care suck a little less to access.<\/p><p>A Sister\u2019s Legacy exists because <b>your bank account shouldn\u2019t determine whether you get to heal.<\/b><\/p><p><strong>Brainspotting<\/strong>&#8211; BSP is a counseling technique that involves identifying and focusing on brainspots (spots in a person\u2019s visual field) to help people process and release emotional weight associated with past events.
